Q&A: Do the light novels of Spice and Wolf go farther in the story then the anime?

Question by Joey: Do the light novels of Spice and Wolf go farther in the story then the anime?
Curious if the light novels end where Season 2 ends or if it goes farther and they just never continued the anime.
Much appreciated!
Do you happen to know the story behind the 4th light novel since it’s not in the anime?
Also do you happen to know how many light novels have been translated to English?

They keep going and then some. The anime only covered the first few novels and skipped the fourth so it could have a better ending. The story in the books just recently finished with volume 17, so there is always the possibility of a season three at some point, but for now the light novels are the way to go.

Also worth noting, unless you can translate or know Japanese it’ll be some time before the US has access to all 17 books, since we only get two releases per year.
